When they got to the disco the queue was so long that Matt immediately said he was leaving. “Fear not my friend, we are on the guest.” Nate said and looked at Matthew as he laughed “You truly need to learn how to be just a little patient.” he added before he went to talk with one of the security guards that was in the main entrance.
He approached them with 5 wristbands and they all grinned “I’m like for real the best friend anyone can have” Nate praised himself but Joe hurried them inside so he couldn’t say another word and with that all they had to do was show the wristbands and walk inside.
Some would say the music was amazing that night, yet if that is debatable, saying it was loud definitely wasn’t. Better than the music though was the place itself, which was beautiful. Four floors with different themes, and the VIP area where they were was yet another floor, just a few steps above the main floor with multiple tables and sofas with free appetizers and the best view of the club.
Yet, Stella wanted to dance which wasn’t as practical as in the main floor and decided to go downstairs where all the fun was, dragging Christie with her. Nate himself decided to join them while Matthew was left with Joe drinking at the bar.
As Matthew tried to find some empty sofa where they could sit, talk and drink he noticed a familiar face sat on one of them. Looking away he made his way back to the bar where Joe was, but soon someone was holding his arm. “Matty!!!” She called and before he even turned around he already knew who it was. Amber. It had been so long since the last time he had seen her and it was crazy to see the impact she still had on him.
That precious face, those thin pink lips he once loved so much. He noticed she had had her hair cut, by the shoulders, and he couldn’t help to feel that she still looked flawless. Despite the darkness he could still see she was wearing the dragon helix earring he had bought her, not long after they began dating. A million memories flashed through his head.
She hugged him again and got so close to him that he could feel her smiling, the innocent smile he once love so much and the smile he couldn’t seem to forget.
She tottered back and now he could actually see that smile he had fallen in love for. “Hello Amber” he said “How are you?”
That was the thing about her. Matthew could never see clear when she was close to her, she just had that effect on him. Luckily she was drunk that night, and if she was drunk it meant she was probably on her own which also meant no big problems for him, at least for the moment.
She stared at him as well and for some moments nothing seemed to move, and he remembered them, as a couple.
Nate was dancing with Christie when he spotted both Joe and Stella also dancing and having fun not very far away from where he and Christie were, and although the lights weren’t much and the dancefloor had way too many people for him to be certain, it seemed like Matthew wasn’t with them.
Christie raised her eyebrow as to ask what was wrong and he kissed her forehead, pulling her close talking close to her ear “Matthew isn’t here” he said “I’ll be right back”
Matthew was sat in a small stool next to a table full of drinks, but he was not alone, and Nat easily recognized the girl who was right in front of him. He walked there but Matthew didn’t even seem to pay attention so he just sat next to him and grabbed his arm as if to call him. It was clear that he had already been drinking and truth be told upsetting him didn’t seem like the greatest idea. “Man, c’mon, let’s go” but it didn’t really seem like he wanted to listen “It’s all good Nate, really”.
He walked back to Christie who was standing a few steps back way too afraid to come close to the girl who had almost destroyed her life once before. Next to them were already Joe and Stella, now aware of the situation.
Stella said nothing but walked over to the bar and started walking in their direction, pretended she was drunk and as she was getting close she started to totter. With that perfect excuse she ‘accidentally’ spilled the drink to Amber’s dress.“I’m sorry” she said quickly still very clumsy.
“I have to go clean the dress, I won’t take long” Amber said into Matthew’s ear. “You should just go home really” she said to Stella as she stood up and made her way to the closest bathroom which was still quite far away.
The rest of the friends soon approached them to find Matthew arguing with Stella, who was still pretending to be drunk. Nate had his phone on his hand and looked very worried, and Matt saw that “My house is on fire!” he said loud enough to catch Matthew’s attention “Then what are we doing here Nate?” he almost yelled and quickly stood up completely forgetting about Amber. Joe and Nate helped to carry him outside, considering he was too drunk to do it alone, while Christie and Stella followed them outside, completely sober.
